Studios See Shorts as Training Ground for Talent
Three of the animated short subjects nominated for an Oscar this year were produced by major studios, The Hollywood Reporter notes. This is largely because the studios see the form as a good training ground for talent, the article goes on to say.
Pixar/Disney had two shorts nominated (“Lifted” and “The Little Match Girl”) this year, while Twentieth Century Fox got a nomination for “No Time for Nuts.”
John Lasseter of Pixar/Disney says that he hopes to attach more shorts, including new and classic Disney cartoons, to future Disney releases.
