Looney Tunes: The Next-Generation Console Game?
Daily Variety reports that Warner Bros. is planning to release its second self-published game, and first for next-gen consoles, based on the “Looney Tunes” characters.
“Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal” will feature many of the studio’s best-known animated characters including Bugs Bunny, Tazmanian Devil and Marvin the Martian.
The game, which is being developed by Redtribe, will be released in the fall for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii.
“Looney Tunes” will be the first true videogame self-published by the studio’s Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment unit. Its previous releases, including “Matrix Online” and “Justice League Heroes,” have been co-published with a partner who handled distribution.
WB recently signed deals with Eidos, in which it bought a 10% stake, and Codemasters to distribute their games in the U.S., giving immediate scale to its videogame operation.
WBIE also is working on a “Dirty Harry” game for next-gen consoles that’s expected to come out in 2008.
