Miyazaki, Fanning Invited to Become Oscar Voters
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has just extended invitations to several potential new members, including occasional voice actress Dakota Fanning and Japanese animation director Hayao Miyazaki. Several of the 120 invitees for 2006 seem to have been selected to address criticisms that the Academy is either an “old man’s club” or lacks international participants. Any who accept the Academy’s invitation will be eligible to vote for the 2006 Oscars.
