Theatre Owners Hope for Animation Salvation in 2006

An article in the Los Angeles Times about the ShoWest convention addresses the lackluster box office performance of 2005 (free registration required), where theatre owners complained about the terrible movies produced throughout the year. Of interest to animation fans is the fact that studios used animated features to demonstrate their new commitment to quality. Disney/Pixar’s Cars and DreamWorks’ Over the Hedge were both previewed at ShoWest as part of this effort.
