NYCC: MoCCA Brings Saturday Morning to the Museum in November
At the New York Comic-Con, Toon Zone News spoke to the staff of the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA), including Matt Murray, MoCCA’s Chief Operating Officer. MoCCA is currently running a Todd McFarlane retrospective, with samples of his work in comics, toys, and animation.
In May, MoCCA will be opening a show dedicated to Saturday morning cartoons, and was showing several original animation cels in their booth at the con. Their summer show will focus on female cartoonists and comic book artists, and their annual art festival will be held on June 10-11, 2006, at the historic Puck Building. Farther out in the future, a fall show will focus on animation from the 1960’s and 1970’s.
MoCCA is located at 594 Broadway (between Houston and Prince Streets), and is open to the public Friday through Monday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. More information about MoCCA and their upcoming shows can be found at their website.
CORRECTION: MoCCA has informed Toon Zone that their female cartoonist show will be in May, and the Saturday morning cartoon show will be opening in November. We apologize for the error.
