New Zealand Bishops Protest "South Park" Episode

A group of Catholic bishops in New Zealand is protesting an upcoming episode of South Park. The seven bishops sent an open letter to all Catholics to boycott the news services and advertisers of TV3. The episode has drawn criticism from New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark and from Muslim groups expressing solidarity with Catholics. The response of broadcasting channel TV4 was to bump up the episode’s air date 7 weeks to February 21, 2006.

The episode, “Bloody Mary,” aired in the United States on December 7, 2005, to similar controversy.
