Disney Channel’s "Higglytown Heroes" Wins Humane Society’s Genesis Award

Playhouse Disney’s original series Higglytown Heroes has won a Genesis Award for an episode entitled “Kip’s Shadow” in which one of the Higgly kids rescues a stray dog. The story’s hero, the Animal Shelter Worker, is voiced by Reno 911 star Carlos Alazraqui.

Launched in 1986, the Genesis Awards is the Humane Society of the United States’ annual awards show which pays tribute to major news outlets and entertainment media for producing work that raises public awareness about animal-rights issues. This year’s 20th annual Genesis Awards will take place on Saturday, March 18.
