National Academy of Sciences Criticizes Toons Marketing Junk Food

A report by the National Academy of Sciences has sharply criticized the marketing practices of the food and beverage industries, especially the use of popular cartoon characters like SpongeBob SquarePants and Shrek to sell junk food to children. The report recommends Congress take action to restrict marketing practices if the food companies do not act on their own.
