C.S. Lewis Would Have Preferred Animation for "Narnia"
A letter from 1959 posted by the website nthposition.com reveals that C.S. Lewis was opposed to a live-action adaptation of his Narnia works, stating that “Anthropomorphic animals, when taken out of narrative into actual visibility, always turn into buffoonery or nightmare.” A brief follow-up comment notes that, “Cartoons (if only Disney did not combine so much vulgarity with his genius!) wld. be another matter.”
