Manga Makes Mess in Maine

The Portland Press Herald of Maine reports on a dispute over “racy” manga in the public library system centering on the perceived sexist depiction of female characters. Tokyo Mew Mew and Peach Girl are mentioned specifically as racier manga of questionable artistic merit.

In a rare show of common sense, an editorial in the paper suggests that manga and graphic novels in general are not all alike, and should be examined on a case-by-case basis for inclusion in the public library system.
