"Howl's Moving Castle" Helps Set Japan Box Office Record

Japanese box office revenue set a new record in 2004, rising to $2.03 billion for the year. According to the Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan, the rise was largely due to the success of local films, with Hayao Miyazaki’s Howl’s Moving Castle being singled out as the top-grossing film in Japan with receipts totaling $192 million.
