"Incredible" Sweep at the Annies
The Incredibles swept the Annies Awards last night, winning in every category it was nominated in and taking the trophy in every Animated Feature slot. The Pixar hit carried off ten trophies in total, with Brad Bird taking home three for himself.
The Incredibles was named Best Animated Feature and also won Animated Effects (Martin Nguyen); Character Animation (Angus MacLane); Character Design in an Animated Feature (Tony Fucile); Music in an Animated Feature (Michael Giacchino); Production Design in an Animated Feature (Lou Romano); and Storyboarding in an Animated Feature (Kevin O’Brien). Bird won for Directing in an Animated Feature, Writing in an Animated Feature, and Voice Acting in an Animated Feature.
Television awards were spread more widely. SpongeBob SquarePants was named Best Animated Television Production, and Duck Dodgers, Samurai Jack, Dave the Barbarian, and Father of the Pride also picked up Annies. King of the Hill picked up two, one for Brittany Murphy for her voice work as Luanne Platter and one for Etan Cohen for writing on the show.
The Lion King 1 1/2 was named Best Home Entertainment Production; Disney also picked up the Best Animated Short Subject for “Lorenzo.”
